Earlier this month, 22 Las Vegas residents were arrested (along with 1,000 other alleged gang members) during a nation-wide crackdown.
The crackdown was titled “Project Wildfire” and led by ICE’s Homeland Security Investigation. It ran from February 23rd until March 31st of this year.
ICE Director Sarah R. Saldana is reported saying, “Criminal gangs inflict violence and fear upon our communities and without the attention of law enforcement, these groups can spread like a cancer… That’s why ICE works with law enforcement partners around the country to stamp out gang activity wherever it takes place.”
Special agents teamed together with hundreds of local law enforcement partners to carry out “Project Wildfire.”
In addition to the arrests, over 80 firearms were seized.
Out of the nearly 1,000 gang members or associates arrested for offenses, over 900 of them were charged with Criminal Offenses.
