Last Friday, a Las Vegas man was arrested on suspicion of Driving Under the Influence and causing the death (after a hit-and-run) of a Las Vegas bicyclist, according to Metro Police Officers. The cyclist was crossing at Sahara and Mohawk when he was struck by a 2008 Hyundai Accent heading West on Sahara. The cyclist suffered severe injuries and was taken to the hospital before being pronounced dead. The driver, Abraham Lebron Jr., 40, initially fled the scene but turned himself in shortly after. This past Saturday morning in the Las Vegas Valley, three individuals were injured in a three-vehicle crash. According to Metro Police, alcohol is suspect. An un-named 17 year old Las Vegas male was driving a 1993 Honda Accord at high speeds Saturday morning when he crossed over into oncoming traffic. His car spun around and hit a 2007 Mazda CX-7 which was being driven by a 68 year old woman, Sharon Edmondson. At this point, both vehicles spun into the path of a 2008 Ford Taurus being driven by 51 year old Doel Rojas. The teenager ran from the scene of the crime but was captured and arrested by Metro. Just on two days: May 29th and June 1st, North Las Vegas Police officers issued a whopping 160 Traffic Citations in order to emphasize the importance of pedestrian safety. In addition to the large number of tickets distributed, officers also issued 72 warnings. Officers stated that the goal of these two days of mega-ticket-issuing was to target drivers who did NOT yield properly for pedestrians, as well as to target pedestrians who did NOT cross properly.
