Nevada ranks #1 for Traffic Tickets Las Vegas drivers may want to put the pedal to the metal (the brake metal, that its), in order to avoid unpleasant consequences. According to a recent analysis completed by the National Motorists Association, Nevada ranks number one among the states most likely to issue Traffic Tickets. Georgia, Alabama, Florida and Maryland follow Nevada’s unfavorable lead, according to the association’s rankings. The motorists’ rights group created the rankings after analyzing ticket-related Google search queries. The association plugged in eight variations of “traffic ticket” into the search tool, said John Bowman, communications director for the National Motorists Association. The results showed how popular any given search term was in a particular location. This is the second such list released by the association, which began the rankings to distribute information that states and jurisdictions can’t easily collect and compare. Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Loy Hixson said the state’s high position doesn’t surprise him given its tourist destinations. “A lot of drivers are ticketed whether they’re local or tourists because we’re [focused on] keeping people safe,” he stated. Hixson also said that Interstate 15 is a major reason for Nevada’s number 1 ranking because of the thoroughfare’s high volume of traffic. Wyoming and Montana stayed near the bottom of this year’s list, according to the report. In a valiant effort to cut back on wrongful pedestrian deaths in Las Vegas, Metro Police have been aggressively targeting motorcycle drivers for a number of las vegas traffic tickets.. These include: speeding, illegal U-turns, and reckless driving. Metro is frustrated by the increase in motorcycle riders blatantly disrespecting police officers’ authority, so they have taken their ticketing powers to the next level, claiming their strict attitudes will help to save hundreds of pedestrian lives in Southern Nevada. Pedestrians using the city sidewalks, crosswalks, and even in parking lots have been suffering injuries due to careless motorcyclists in Las Vegas. Metro is working hard to put this to an end. Funny enough, it is rumored that Metro Officers use social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter to find out where motorcycle groups are congregating—then they are scouting out the area to ticket motorcyclists for popping wheelies, speeding, and other ticketable offenses. If you have received a ticket for reckless driving in las vegas, whether it was on a motorcycle or in a car, call the Law Office of Mark Coburn at (702) 382-2000 today to avoid costly fines, waiting in line at the Clark County Traffic Court, and to keep your record clean. Though the uprising of ‘texting-related’ Las Vegas Traffic Ticketscannot be denied, there are a multitude of other ticketable offenses that fall under the category of “Distracted Driver.” In short, anything that takes the driver’s attention off the road and onto something else is an offense worthy of a costly ticket and points on your Nevada driving record. These offenses include but are not limited to: eating while driving, self-grooming while driving, turning to the back seat to silence a noisy child, fumbling around with your radio or MP3 player, turning to talk to the passenger next to you, flipping through a magazine or book while driving, etc. Please keep your eyes on the road whenever you are behind the wheel. It doesn’t take much for an accident to occur—and during that half second you look down to check the weather, grab something from your purse, or wipe the crumbs off your slacks—an unexpected obstacle could have appeared in front of you on the road. It’s not just your own driving you must remain focused on; it’s the driving of all the other individuals on the road. Remain defensive, alert, and ready to respond at all times. This is the only way to ensure the safety of yourself and those around you.
